How the SIP calculation works

Each month, your SIP amount buys units at the first NAV on or after your SIP date. Units are rounded to three decimals, as registrars do. Today's value is your total units multiplied by the latest NAV.

The return shown is XIRR, which accounts for when each instalment was made. Stamp duty, exit load and taxes are not included.

What it is compared with

The same instalments are run in an index fund from your fund's category, a Nifty 50 index fund, a gold fund, and a bank FD at the rate you choose, compounded quarterly.

Questions

Is this a SIP calculator with actual returns?

Yes. It uses the published NAV of your fund on each SIP date instead of an assumed rate of return.

What is XIRR in a SIP?

XIRR is the yearly return of a series of investments made on different dates. It is the standard way to state SIP returns.

Can I change the SIP date?

Yes, any day from 1 to 28. If the date is a holiday, units are bought at the next NAV.
